In June 2013, Uttarakhand was devastating floods and landslides in the country’s one of the worst natural disaster. As of 16 July 2013, according to figures provided by the Uttarakhand government, more than 5,700 people were “presumed dead. This total included 934 local residents.
Destruction of bridges and roads left about 100,000 pilgrims and tourists trapped in the valleys leading to three of the four Hindu Chota Char Dham pilgrimage sites. At that time entire India came forward to help the flood victims of Uttrakhand.
Bhavsar Foundation (Formerly Bhaskar Foundation) also rose to the occasion and initiated a campaign in July, 2013 to generate funds for the help of victims of this devastating flood. Under this campaign we collected Rs. 28,15,640/- and out of that money Rs. 6,40,000/- was spent on immediate relief material which was transported to Dehradun and handover to Govt. of Uttrakhand. Balance of Rs. 21,69,919/-was deposited in Pradhanmantri Rahat Kosh on 1-Aug-2013.
